Why Join the Vegan Society of Ireland?

The Vegan Society of Ireland has been active since January 2024. Our primary goal is to educate the public about the importance of going vegan—for the animals, the environment and human health. To achieve this, we’ve developed several initiatives and have plans already in place.

For example, we aim to organise events such as talks, conferences, bake sales and other gatherings that require physical venues. These events involve costs for venue hire and insurance. We also need funding for outreach materials like leaflets and banners, as well as fees for having VSI stands at national and local events.

We want our social media posts to reach a wider audience—vegans and non-vegans alike. Advertising on social media platforms costs money. We’d also like to place ads in national newspapers and are exploring a billboard campaign, which could cost thousands of euros.

This is where you come in. We can’t accomplish any of this without financial support. That’s why we’re calling on all vegans in the Republic of Ireland to join us by purchasing a membership card and renewing it annually. If you’re outside the Republic, you can still become a member or make a donation.

Our annual membership fees are very reasonable:

  • Students: €5
  • Unwaged & OAPs: €15
  • Standard Membership: €25

Membership cards also make great gifts for friends or family. We welcome donations of any amount, and donations of €250 or more are eligible for tax relief.

What do you get in return for your membership?
Members enjoy discounts at a growing number of shops and restaurants across Ireland. We currently have 52 businesses participating in our scheme, and we’re continually reaching out to more. You’ll also become part of a vibrant and supportive community.

The more members we have, the more attractive we become to businesses considering joining our discount scheme. With a growing membership base, we can also push for better vegan options in shops, supermarkets and restaurants—and strengthen our voice when lobbying politicians.

The Vegan Society of Ireland is your society. We’re here to represent and support you—and we’re entirely volunteer-run.

Join us today. Help us advocate for animals and inspire others to choose a vegan lifestyle.
